The National LAOH Irish History Writing Contest is comprised of two levels: LEVEL 1 is for students in Grades 6, 7, or 8 and LEVEL 2 is for students in Grades 9, 10, 11, or 12.Irish History Writing Contest The topic of the 2016-2017 LAOH, Inc. Irish History Writing Contest was The Role of the Irish in World War I. The contest was open to all students grades 6 through 12. The LAOH NYS Board received 19 Level-1 essays and 10 Level-2 essays. Level-1 1st Place - Maeve S., Richmond County 2nd Place - Alex T., Albany County.We welcome you to The Maryland Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians website. The MD LAOH is a sisterhood of Irish Catholic women that are a local order of a national charitable organization. Entering writing contests is a time commitment, and many people decide to forego this endeavor in order to work on their larger projects instead — like a full-length book. Second, for many writers, the chance of rejection is enough to steer them clear of writing contests.The contest is scheduled to run until the end of March but unfortunately, we still aren't close to having enough entries to run the contest. So, the question we put forth is this; Do we cancel the contest and begin the refund process early and hopefully have it wrapped up by April 17th or let it run the duration? We know times are a bit tough.
