Language and varieties of Language are methods for communicating and perceiving the numerous social identities individuals have. Social identities are outflows of ID with a social group (and are not quite the same as individual identity). For instance, a person may be 'a person', 'an instructor', 'a.It Is the most vivid and crucial key to identity: it reveals the private identity, and connects one with, are, times and places, when to speak a certain language could be dangerous, even fatal. (350. ) Baldwin is trying to prove how language plays a major role in revealing one’s identity. Having a language that is accepted and used by the masses makes you feel comfortable and more capable.To conclude, I would say I love and appreciate my speech; it reminds me of where I came from, and in helping to shape my identity, I wouldn’t change anything about it. Although it may seem that my language and identity is forever changing, learning to adapt and communicate, its all a learning process.
Culture is a defining feature of a person’s identity, contributing to how they see themselves and the groups with which they identify. Culture may be broadly defined as the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings, which is transmitted from one generation to another.Language behavior expresses complex social meaning. Language defines the different social groups within which we are identified and the role we embrace in the society. Language as research has shown is a symbol of different social identities and it is used to construct a particular identity (Baldwin).

Language use and identity are conceptualised rather differently in a socio-cultural perspective on human action. Here, identity is not seen as singular.
